My Daisy Story

| Can't I have one more peek? |
March 18 (The Pig Who Wouldn't Retreat)
Yesterday, I went out to my barn to feed our NUMEROUS hogs! When I got into the farrowing barn (baby pig barn) I heard this horrific noise. I came out of the barn
and it was Daisy. Now Daisy is one of our sows and she wanted to see her babies.
She had just weaned them a week ago, so I did what I normally do when Daisy wants
to see her babies, I yelled for my son to come and put Daisy back. But, when I went
running to get him, I realized that my son was not here. He won’t be here for a long time. So then I did the other thing that I normally do while I’m waiting for my son, and that was hide!
Daisy is 1,000 pounds. When Daisy wants to see her babies, Daisy will stop at nothing to see them. So, after 15 minutes of hiding behind the hay I started to realize something. I know there are days when our Marines are fearful, but yet they move forward. So, in honor of all our Marines I said a prayer and moved forward into harm’s way. I got between the babies and Daisy. I stood firmly for what I believed in (that Daisy needed to be where Daisy couldn’t eat me!)
Ladies! I’m proud to say that after two hours all by myself I was able to put Daisy
back into her pen. I did it all by myself. It was the most wonderful experience I’ve
ever had. Fearful at the thought I could be Daisy’s last meal, yet excited at the possibility
that I could handle danger on my own. It was because of our Marines having to be
strong that I was able to put Daisy away!
So, maybe I should just load up Daisy and drop her off in Iraq. My prayer as we move
forward today for all families of the Military is… “God Bless!”
Onward!
You are the one who rules the oceans. When their waves rise in fearful storms, you subdue
them. Psalm 89:9
